S.K. Sinha new J&K Governor?

By Luv Puri

Jammu April 24. S. K. Sinha, a retired Lieutenant General, is tipped to succeed G. C. Saxena as the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir on May 1. Mr. Saxena's term expires on May 2. Official sources said that the Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, had given his consent to the name of Mr. Sinha, till recently the Governor of Assam.

In the past, the Mufti had pressed for a person with a civilian background to be appointed Governor but due to the security scenario prevailing in the State the Centre apparently has not agreed to his demand.
