J&K security reviewed

By Our Staff Reporter

JAMMU APRIL 25. At a high-level meeting convened by the Union Home Ministry to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, it has been decided to prepare a comprehensive report and submit it to the Centre on the current situation with focus on better coordination between different security agencies.

The meeting, headed by the Special Secretary, Union Home Ministry, A.K. Bhandari, was held here late on Thursday. It was decided to focus on infiltration from across the border, intelligence-sharing and speeding up work on fencing along the Line of Control (LoC).

The meeting was a sequel to the decisions taken in New Delhi at a high-level meeting held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, on March 30, where the Governor, G.C. Saxena, the Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, and other security officials participated.

The meeting was called on the initiative of Mr. Advani after the Nadimarg massacre on March 24.
