Tamil Nadu
By Our Special Correspondent
Mr. Kayveas, who is currently on a private visit to Tamil Nadu, told a press conference here that "Malaysia was looking forward to India for complimenting its multimedia corridor as 60-80 per cent of the workforce came from India". Referring to the recent incident involving the Indian software professionals, the Deputy Minister said "it was a costly lesson for us and the episode marred the relationship. But we will have to move on to work together and I am confident that the Indo-Malaysian historical ties will grow further in all fronts culturally and industrially". Asked whether the Malaysian low-cost housing expertise could be shared in India, especially in tackling problems of slum tenements, he said there was great potential in this low-cost housing sector as they had proven experience of building 800 sq foot tenements as Malaysia had targeted itself to become a "squatter-free nation" by 2005.
