Stalin, Azhagiri call on new Archbishop

MADURAI APRIL 25. The DMK State youth wing secretary and MLA, M. K. Stalin, called on the new Archbishop of the Madurai Archdiocese here today.

Accompanied by his supporters, Mr. Stalin presented a `ponnadai' to Peter Fernando and also met the former Archbishop, M. Arokiasamy. However, senior party functionaries described the meeting as a `courtesy call'.

Mr. Stalin's elder brother, M. K. Azhagiri, along with his supporters, also called on the new Archbishop. ``It was only an occasion to express the party's support for protecting minorities and their interests,'' a former DMK MLA said.
