Mr. Geethanandan, who had been handed over to the Crime Branch from judicial custody by the JFCM, Sulthan Bathery, yesterday was produced before the court this morning and was granted bail. He had been in judicial custody after his arrest in connection with the violent incidents that had occurred at Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuay at Muthanga on February 19. Mr. Geethanandan, who is the general convener of the Dalit Samara Samithy, which backed the agitation of Adivasi Gothra Maha Sabha (AGMS), was ordered by the High Court to be kept in police custody for interrogation and then released. The State had sought police custody of Mr. Geethanandan in order to recover arms with which he was alleged to have attacked police personnel. Talking to reporters after his release at Sulthan Bathery, Mr. Geethanandan said that the AGMS presidium at Mananthavady tomorrow would decide on the future course of agitation. He also said that the `grabbing' of land by CPI(M)-sponsored Adivasi Kshema Samithy (AKS) recently also points out to the fact that the party had corrected its mistake.
