The steam turbine-based unit of 37.5 MW capacity has been established under the power project's second stage. The Chairman and Managing Director of the Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam, R.K. Gupta, said that the unit would remain under trial run for some time. He pointed out that the heat of the fuel gases exhausted from two gas turbines in the new unit would be utilised in the combined cycle mode, and consequently, there would be no need to incur extra expenditure on fuel for generation of electricity.
