Addressing presspersons here, Mr. Nagappa said the State Government was expecting the money in the first week of May. The Government had received Rs. eight crore in March and Rs. 10 crore in the first week of April from the Centre. Of the three lakh tonnes of foodgrains allotted to the State, the Centre had released 1.35 lakh tonnes. Under the Calamity Relief Fund (CRF), the State had received Rs. 255 crore from the Centre. The Government had spent Rs. 380 crore under CRF, Mr. Nagappa said. He said that a delegation led by the Home Minister, Mallikarjun Kharge, had met the Union Agriculture Minister, Ajit Singh, and urged him to take steps to release 1.65 lakh tonnes of foodgrains allotted to the State at the earliest. To a question on the quality of rice the State was receiving from the Centre, Mr. Nagappa said the Government was lifting only good quality rice. Referring to the BJP leader, B.S. Yediyurappa's allegation that the Government had not executed works under the food-for-work programme, he said that a task force committee headed by the Deputy Commissioner had been formed in each district to execute them. The State had utilised 85 per cent of foodgrains received from the Centre, he added.
