Dharmapuri April 26. A person has been arrested in connection with the last night's cracker blast at a DMK public meeting which killed one person and injured a few others.

The police said as crackers were being burst to welcome the former Information Minister, V. Mullaivendan, to the venue at Rayakottai, one cracker reportedly flew into the crowd and burst near Thasthagir (27), son of Mahaboob, killing him on the spot.

The incident sparked of tension and the crowd went on the rampage, breaking the chairs and tube lights at the venue. The DMK leaders were forced to retreat from the place.
