Gopal taken to forests

Erode April 26. The Nakkheeran Editor, R.R. Gopal, who has been detained under the Prevention of Terrorism Act and remanded to police custody, was today brought to the Sathyamangalam and Thalawadi forest areas for enquiry in connection with another case of murder. Three CB-CID officials were enquiring the journalist about the murder of Rajamani, a "police informer," who, the police said, was allegedly murdered by the forest brigand, Veerappan's gang in 1998. The police had registered a case in connection with the incident for various offences including under Sections 302 and 201 of the IPC.
