`Tridents do not come under Arms Act'

Raipur April 27. Asserting that tridents do not come under the Arms Act, senior VHP leader, Acharya Giriraj Kishore, today alleged that the Rajasthan Government had imposed the ban on tridents to appease a particular community.

``When the Samajwadi Party leader, Amar Singh, could distribute two thousand swords without permission, why is the trident being opposed'', the VHP leader asked, justifying the Parishad's Trishul Deeksha programmes.

The arrest of Praveen Togadia had not affected the schedule of the programmes, he added. — PTI
