In an impromptu media conference here tonight, the CBI director, P.C. Sharma, said a pistol and a revolver had been recovered from here. He, however, declined to give any details as to from where and from whom the weapons had been recovered nor was he prepared to disclose how the CBI established that the same weapons had been used in the murder. The recovery of the weapons, if established, would help in resolving a major missing link in the murder in connection with which at least 18 persons have been arrested from Ahmedabad and Hyderabad. The city crime branch police had only yesterday claimed to have recovered two motorcycles believed to have been used in the murder, one to help the killer to escape and the other as a pilot vehicle. Mr. Sharma claimed that Ashgar Ali, who is believed to have pressed the trigger to kill Pandya in his car on March 26, had disclosed a lot of details about the crime during his interrogation. Asked whether the CBI had succeeded in establishing the ISI's link in the Pandya murder, Mr. Sharma only said, "we are in the midst of the investigation and cannot disclose such details at this stage.''
