Two-wheeler rider dies as vehicle skids

CHENNAI APRIL 27. A two-wheeler rider died when his vehicle skidded at the Meenambakkam traffic signal today.

Aslam (28), a resident of Old Washermanpet, succumbed to his injuries at the Government General hospital.

The pillion rider, Venkat, was admitted to the hospital with injuries, according to hospital sources.

One held for stealing

Meanwhile, the Chengai East police have arrested one person on charges of stealing two-wheelers from Selaiyur, Tambaram, Neelankarai, Mannady, Broadway, Saidapet, Adyar and Chengalpattu. They have recovered 16 two-wheelers from the accused.

The police have also arrested another person on charges of stealing car stereo sets from 15 vehicles and recovered the equipment worth around Rs. 1 lakh, according to a press release.

The police have arrested another person wanted in connection with the theft of household electronic goods from the shop where he was working. The accused, a resident of Rajapalayam, is also charged with stealing Rs.30,000 cash from the shop, was arrested by a police team in Vellore, a press release said.
