Three children poisoned

By Our Staff Reporter

CHENNAI APRIL 27. The poisoning of three children and subsequent suicide by the perpetrators of the crime at Pallikaranai, a city suburb, has sent shock waves in the locality.

According to police, a flower vendor, Pachaiammal and Vaiyapuri were found dead in a thatched roof house at Pallikaranai along with the woman's three children, Diana, Gomathy and Praveen. A pesticide found near the bodies along with sweet boxes and soft drink bottles gave rise to the suspicion that Pachaiammal and Vaiyapuri, with whom she was stated to have had a relationship, had poisoned the children and then killed themselves.

Pachaiammal's husband, Ekambaram had deserted her six months ago and since then she had been living with Vaiyapuri.
