Hearing on scribes' plea in October

By Our Legal Correspondent

NEW DELHI April 28. The Supreme Court today posted for hearing in October a batch of petitions from journalists, senior editors and publishers, challenging an order of the Karnataka High Court to initiate contempt of court proceedings against them for publishing reports relating to certain allegations against three Judges of the High Court.

A three-Judge Bench, comprising the Chief Justice V.N. Khare, Justice S.B. Sinha and Justice A.R. Lakshmanan, did not stay the proceedings pending before the High Court.

However, the Chief Justice told senior counsel, Anil B. Divan, that ``if the trial goes on, you (can) approach this court and we will consider your request for stay then''.
