Hitler, a great man?

New Delhi April 28. The Lok Sabha Speaker, Manohar Joshi, today asked the Government to take note of the strong exception in the House to projecting Nazi leader Hitler as ``great man'' in history books published by the National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT).

Raising the issue, Varkala Radhakrishnan (CPI-M), said the NCERT books described Hitler as a ``socialist and nationalist'' without talking about his massacres.

``This is highly dangerous'' as the students would get a feeling that Hitler was a great socialist and nationalist, he said.

Supporting him, Jaipal Reddy (Cong) said it was indeed a case of ``terrible example of historical re-write.''
