Fernandes back from China, attends office

New Delhi April 28. After his seven-day visit to SARS-affected China, the Defence Minister, George Fernandes, attended his office as usual today.

The Minister, who, along with a high-level delegation, arrived from Beijing at midnight last night, was screened at the Indira Gandhi International Airport for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).

Mr. Fernandes also co-chaired a high-level dialogue with his visiting French counterpart, Michelle Alliot Marie, and attended to his duties in his office at South Block.

Although reporters were not allowed inside the VIP lounge at the airport last night, Mr. Fernandes told them later that he was screened for SARS.

The Defence Minister said enroute he was checked for SARS at Seoul also. — PTI
