Panic in the State, says Opposition

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI April 28. The Opposition today turned the heat on the Government following the spate of murders in the State, focussing in particular on the double murders in Coimbatore and Vellore.

Raising the Coimbatore murders through a special calling attention motion, the Congress legislature party leader, S.R. Balasubramaniam, said the incident spread panic in the area and the culprits were not brought to book even after nine days.

Echoing similar sentiments, the PMK member, I. Ganesan, expressed serious concern over the non-arrest of the culprits.

Moving a special mention on the Vellore incident, CPI (M) leader, J. Hemachandran, said the offenders seemed to have lost any sense of fear of the police. The Congress member, C. Gnanadeskaran, wanted the Intelligence wing to be geared up.
