The local MLA, B. Vijayakumar, the Executive Engineers of PWD (NH) and the Kerala Water Authority (Drainage) and the work contractors would attend the meeting. The rebuilding of the culvert across the Amayizhanjan Canal near the Chaitram Hotel of the KTDC at Thampanoor, being carried out by the PWD (National Highway) wing at an estimated cost of Rs.82 lakhs, had begun on February 28. The work on the culvert across the Amayizhanjan Canal near the second entry gate of the Thiruvananthapuram Central on the Power House Road, being undertaken by the PWD (Roads) wing, had started a week later. The project, being undertaken as part of the first phase of the project being implemented to check flooding in the low-lying areas of East Fort and Thampanoor, is targeted to be completed by May-end.
