Grasim Industries has registered a net profit of Rs. 367.58 crores in the 12 months ended March 31, 2003 against Rs. 302.96 crores in the same period in the previous year. Total income has risen to Rs. 4,742.13 crores from Rs. 4,501.26 crores. The operating profit has increased to Rs. 1,141.67 crores from Rs. 936.78 crores. After providing for interest of Rs. 168.40 crores (Rs. 190.25 crores) and depreciation of Rs. 254.14 crores (Rs. 251.70 crores), the profit before tax was higher at Rs. 719.12 crores against Rs. 494.83 crores. Taxation claims Rs. 177 crores (Rs. 108 crores). Extraordinary items claimed Rs. 174.54 crores (Rs. 83.87 crores). The company has declared a dividend of 100 per cent against 90 per cent in the previous year. According to a BSE release, the outlook continues to be bright with all its major businesses contributing to the improved performance
