Orchid Chemicals has more than doubled its net profit in the 12 months ended March 31, 2003 to Rs. 19.54 crores against Rs. 6.31 crores in the corresponding period in the previous year. The turnover has risen by 27 per cent to Rs. 541.42 crores from Rs. 425.52 crores. The gross profit, before depreciation and interest charges, has increased to Rs. 109.63 crores fom Rs. 80.67 crores. In the quarter ended March 31, 2003, sales were was higher at Rs. 194.96 crores against Rs. 147.18 crores. The gross profit, before depreciation and interest charges, was higher at Rs. 39.48 crores against Rs. 23.51 crores and the net profit at Rs. 10.02 crores against a loss of Rs. 4.12 crores. The company has recommended a dividend of 40 per cent on enlarged capital due to conversion of bonds issued to the International Finance Corporation, Washington.
