By Our Special Correspondent
In a letter to Mr. Krishna, Mr. Sedam has drawn his attention to the growing number of cases of fake stamp paper and the questioning of Rehan Baig, brother of the Minister for Small-scale Industries, Roshan Baig. He said the arrest of persons hailing from the State in connection with every case was a blot on Karnataka. Since there were reports that the proceeds from the racket were flowing into anti-social and underworld activities, particularly in Bangalore, it was a matter that should be regarded seriously, Mr. Sedam has said. Further, Mr. Sedam has pointed out that the seizure of Rs. 25-crore worth of fake stamp papers in Delhi on Monday demonstrated that the racket was on despite Karim Lala, the kingpin behind it, being in jail. What was important more than the continuance or otherwise of Mr. Roshan Baig as minister was the internal security of the country which demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter, Mr. Sedam has said in the letter.
