Cong. alone can ensure Telangana: CFT

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD April 29. Leaders of the Congress Forum for Telangana, P.Goverdhan Reddy, M.Baga Reddy and Puli Veeranna, have urged all anti-TDP and anti-communal forces to unite in their struggle against injustice. Identifying the TDP as the main enemy of people in the State and the BJP, at the Centre, they argued here on Tuesday that fighting for separate Telangana single-handedly or without Congress support was illogical.

The Congress party would strive to unite all organisations and parties against anti-Telangana forces to achieve the goal, they said.

Talking to presspersons, they said the high command of the party was sympathetic to the cause of Telangana and would make its decision public on the formation of separate PCC for the region soon. If need be, the party would not hesitate to join hands with those working towards similar goal.

Referring to the TRS rally they said successful conduct of public meetings would not materialise the aspirations of the people.

It was obvious that the TRS movement had reached a dead end and there was nothing further it could achieve in highlighting the Telangana sentiment.

Dismissing the TRS Warangal rally as "its maximum mobilistion'', they felt the party had reached a "thus far and no further stage.'' "Winning a few seats in the elections will not lead to separate statehood. After all the erstwhile Telangana Praja Samithi too had won 10 out of 14 LS seats,'' they said.

Later, in an informal talk with journalists, the PCC president, M.Satyanarayana Rao, too asked people to realise that only the Congress had the capacity to create separate Telangana state.

The party was in power neither in AP nor at the Centre to help the cause now but once it happened, there should not be any hurdle (in the creation of Telangana), he said.
