The views of both the parties were similar on several issues. Asked about observation made by the DMK president, M. Karunanidhi, after meeting him (Vaiko) in the Vellore prison, Mr. Vaiko has been detained there under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, that "hearts will unite", the MDMK general secretary said the hearts had already united and both the parties were fighting for a cause. Asked whether there was any possibility of this `relationship' getting extended in future, Mr. Vaiko said "our relationship is like the one between the CPI and the CPI(M)". Mr. Vaiko was brought to the court here in connection with an election clash case registered with the Kuttalam police in 1983.
