Tamil Nadu
By Our Special Correspondent
In the notice, served through his lawyers, Dr. Krishnasamy has noted: "Being the Speaker, a duty is cast upon you to have disallowed such remarks made against an individual, who is a former member of the Assembly and leader of a political party fighting for the rights of the suppressed and oppressed sections, and especially in his absence". Expressing his "unhappiness and disappointment" at the Speaker not disallowing or expunging the remarks, the PT leader has called for the removal, at least now, under Rule 92 (viii), second proviso to Rule 93, Rule 119 and Rule 281 of the Tamil Nadu Assembly rules. His demand related to the Chief Minister's remark that Dr. Krishnasamy was a person "who incites the utmost casteist fanaticism". The notice described it as "per se defamatory, indecent, unparliamentary, undignified and grossly irregular and totally contrary to truth". In a press release, Dr. Krishnasamy said that as he had no opportunity to reply to the allegation on the floor of the House, he wanted the remark expunged.
