Bail for Gopal in Rajamani murder case

ERODE April 29. The Erode District and Sessions Judge today granted conditional bail to Nakkeeran editor, R.R. Gopal, in the `police informer' Rajamani murder case.

In 1998, the forest brigand, Veerappan, murdered Rajamani in the Thalawady forest.

The Sathyamangalam police registered a murder case against Veerappan and his associates.

The police arrested Mr. Gopal and registered a case under Section 302 and 201 IPC.

On behalf of Mr. Gopal, a bail application was filed in the Erode District and Sessions Court.

Granting bail, the district principal judge, Thirunavukkarasu, in his order, directed Mr. Gopal to appear everyday before the CB-CID in Chennai.

Mr. Gopal, however, has been detained under the Prevention of Terrorism Act.
