CHENNAI, April 29. Forty-year-old Ezhumalai of Tiruvannamalai district, now undergoing treatment in the CMC Hospital, Vellore, has tested `positive' for the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome. But he has been declared "not at risk to anyone" and will be discharged in a couple of days. He returned from Singapore and was admitted to the CMC for diabetes. But the hospital screened him for SARS, as he came from the City State. Kurien Thomas, Professor of Medicine, CMC, said the patient "is now asymptomatic and on discharge will be quarantined for 10 days at home as per WHO guidelines". Meanwhile, a 24-hour helpline for SARS has been activated. Callers can dial 24335075.
