FM broadcast on MTC buses soon

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI APRIL 29. The Metropolitan Transport Corporation buses and bus-stands will offer FM broadcast containing information and entertainment content arranged through private agencies on contract basis, the Transport Minister, R. Viswanathan, told the Assembly on Monday.

Film music, Chennai-specific news items and important announcements relating to safe journey of passengers would be broadcast continuously.

For the benefit of passengers who reserved their seats in buses run by the State Express Transport Corporation to other States, free travel in MTC buses would be allowed from their place of stay in the city to the Koyambedu Bus Terminus two hours before the departure of the SETC buses. "Depending upon the success of this programme, it will be extended to other buses operated inside Tamil Nadu", he said.
