Pak. team for India

By B. Muralidhar Reddy

ISLAMABAD APRIL 29 . A group of 11 Pakistani parliamentarians are visiting India on a "goodwill mission" beginning May 8. They represent a broad spectrum of political parties and intend during their visit to explore possibility of improving relations between the two countries.

Mubashir Hasan, former Finance Minister of Pakistan, who is active on the track-two diplomacy, told The Hindu that the Pakistan and India Forum for Peace and Democracy (PIFPD) was arranging the visit. As the name suggests, the Forum seeks to promote peace and democracy in the sub-continent and has chapters in both the countries.

The Forum has been working on the project for a long time and for a variety of reasons it did not materialise earlier. After the latest peace initiative, the Forum is not complaining and sees it as "perfect timing".
