India beats Pakistan

NEW DELHI APRIL 30. India defeated Pakistan 3-0 in a pool `IV' league match of the Asia-Oceania Junior Davis Cup tennis tournament in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Rupesh Roy beat Aftab Anwar 6-1, 6-1 and Sanam K. Singh sealed the issue for India with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Shahrukh Khan Niazi.

In the doubles, Sumit Prakash Gupta and Rupesh Roy beat Aftab Anwar and Tanvir Ashiq 6-0, 6-0.

The third team in the group, Uzbekistan had also beat Pakistan by a similar margin, and will meet in the last league encounter for the group honours.

Both India and Uzbekistan have already qualified for the quarterfinals.
