TDP reschedules party polls

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD April 30. The Telugu Desam Party has postponed the elections to its district party committees from May 4 to 7 and also rescheduled the dates of the mini-Mahanadus.

The postponement of polls has been forced by the delay in completing elections to mandal-level party committees whose members will elect district leaders. The party is yet to constitute committees in about 18 Assembly constituencies.

A party press release said the elections be preceded by a meeting of the district election observers at the NTR Bhavan here on May 6.

The TDP has also changed the dates of its district-level Mahanadus which were slated to be completed in two days. These meetings will now be spread over six days from May 10 to 15 as per the following schedule:

May 10 and 11 - Srikakulam, East Godavari, Prakasam, Mahabubnagar, Hyderabad, Warangal and Nalgonda, May 12 and 13 - Visakhapatnam, West Godavari, Guntur, Cuddapah, Kurnool, Medak, Adilabad and Khammam and May 14 and 15 - Vizianagaram, Krishna, Nellore, Anantapur, Rangareddi, Nizamabad and Karimnagar.
