Adoption scam: BJP points finger at Congress

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI APRIL 30. With the political climate in the Capital showing signs of hotting up, the war of words between political rivals is intensifying with each passing day. Today it was the turn of the West Delhi BJP unit which demanded handing over of the recently unearthed baby selling and adoption scam to the Crime Branch to probe the involvement of political personalities and officials involved in this matter.

A delegation of BJP leaders led by the West Delhi BJP president, C.P. Malik, met the Delhi Lieutenant-Governor, Vijai Kapoor, and urged him to direct the police to investigate this sensational case from all angles and all the culprits including MCD officials and politicians found guilty should be booked even for providing political as well as official patronage to the whole racket. The Leader of the Opposition in Delhi Assembly, Jagdish Mukhi, was also part of the delegation.

Stating that there was a criminal brain behind this whole racket, the delegation pointed out that the Ward No. 17 Councillor, Sanjay Puri, ran his office from the nursing home. In fact, the so-called nursing home owned by Shyam Aggarwal was not a recognised outlet and was used for such illegal acts. They said after the scam was unearthed by the police, Mr. Puri removed his official boards and the surrounding walls were re-painted. Fictitious birth certificates were also being issued by the West Zone of MCD under the influence of the local Congress politicians.

Pointing out that it was a serious matter and needs to be probed thoroughly by the police, the delegation urged Mr. Kapoor to get the matter probed from all aspects. Mr. Kapoor assured the delegation that he had taken note of the entire situation and nobody would be spared in this case. The delegation also included the Leader of the Opposition in MCD, Subhash Arya, BJP Mahila Morcha president, Meera Kanwaria and local Councillor, Meena Thakur.
