New Delhi
By Our Staff Reporter
Addressing a Press conference here, Mr. Maken accused Mr. Khurana of making all out attempts to sabotage the Metro Rail project. In fact, from the day he became the DMRC Chairman, he has done nothing but trying to derail the entire project which was a dream project of Delhiites. As the Chief Minister of Delhi, Mr. Khurana was never interested in the project and had gone on to suggest other alternatives like the elevated High Speed Tram System which has now lost favour. "What expertise does Mr. Khurana or even Vijay Kumar Malhotra have to prepare a report on Sky Train and other transport projects. It is clearly a politically motivated move aimed at misleading and confusing the people of Delhi,'' he added. Mr. Maken questioned the locus standi of the BJP to bring out such a report and wondered why such action was not taken when the BJP was in power for five years from 1993 to 1998. They are playing politics with such crucial developmental projects and it is nothing but an effort to derail the High Capacity Bus System project that is in the final stages of being implemented. He also accused Mr. Khurana of misusing his position as the DMRC Chairman and said time and again the BJP leader had misused the forum of DMRC to raise political issues which was stooping to a new low to score petty political points. "It seems Mr. Khurana and his lieutenants are working against the will of the people and they would face the consequences in the coming Assembly polls,'' he added. He said the BJP leader had been making tall promises to the people of Delhi with just an eye on the polls. In an attempt to mislead the people, he has been time and again indulging in dramatics as if to show that he was fighting for a cause which in actual was nothing but a facade aimed at grabbing power at any cost.
