R.K. Kumaraswamy, Additional Director (Communicable Diseases) and Nodal Officer for SARS, said the department expected to receive the test results of three persons who showed SARS symptoms Anik Mehta, Jaipal Sahney of Cox Town, and Usha Baliga from Mangalore from the NIV, but these had not arrived. ``We contacted the institute but were not able to get any information. Since the NIV has been getting a lot of blood samples from all over the country, it is likely that the load is too much,'' he said. Sources said the NIV was yet to collect some blood samples which had reached the Pune airport. The blood samples of Kasturi Cavale, who arrived here from Kuala Lumpur and was treated at St. John's Hospital, and those of a Chinese national who arrived by ship at Mangalore Port, were sent to the NIV on April 27, and the results would reach the Health Department only after a couple of days, Dr. Kumaraswamy said. He said the Chinese national had been admitted to the Mangalore Port Hospital, and the District Health Officer had reported that the patient's condition had improved. Anik Mehta had already left for Delhi, and the other two persons in the City were recovering, and there was no cause for concern, he added.
