Letters to the Editor
Sir, The optimism and euphoria expressed in the Editorial `A welcome overture' ( April 21 ) seems unjustified, because though the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee's offer of the hand of friendship to Pakistan, and his assertion that a dialogue can resolve all issues, including Kashmir, has attracted widespread attention, there has been the usual condition that Pakistan should dismantle terrorist training camps and end cross-border terrorism. Everyone knows that even if Pakistan promises to do so, it would not keep its word. The belief that a dialogue can resolve the Indo-Pak. tussle seems to be a mistake since there are "irreconcilable differences" between India and Pakistan on the Kashmir issue.
K. Kumara Sekhar,
