Lethal injection better

Sir, — This has reference to the report `Lethal injection is better' ( April 27 ). The Law Commission has suggested suo motu a more humane way of execution of the death penalty/sentence, viz., by lethal injection of certain drugs rather than, or in preference to, the present method of hanging by the neck. The method is to be welcomed. Psychologically also, the condemned prisoner undergoes less trauma and mental agony. The injection method does not produce any mutilation or disfigurement of the body.

K.R. Balasubramaniam,
Chennai
