Mr. B.N. Dutta (left), trustee board chairman of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), presents a replica of the CAB Club House as a memento to the Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, at the Eden Gardens on Thursday. Joint secretary, Mr. Bublu Koley (second from left) and Mr. Jagmohan Dalmiya, president of the CAB (behind Ganguly), are also seen.
Former president and present chairman of the CAB Trustee Board, Mr. B.N. Dutta, presented Ganguly a replica of the Club House as a memento amid a gathering comprising past and present Bengal cricketers, officials of the association and media. In keeping with the tune of the evening, Ganguly's short speech had a message to the young hopefuls in general and Bengal in particular to work hard. He turned nostalgic when he saw some of his coaches during his under-15 and 17 playing days, Ganguly thanked them for their contribution in helping him become a cricketer of repute. Ganguly expressed his desire to play 100 Test matches as his next goal and thought he was good enough to play for the country for a few more years. The presentation ceremony was preceded by a short film on Sourav which captured all his heroic moments including the now infamous bare-chested Ganguly waving his shirt, football style. A visibly embarrassed Ganguly buried his head briefly in his hands before recovering his composure. Earlier, Mr. Jagmohan Dalmiya, the president of the CAB recalled the high points of Ganguly's cricketing career starting from the days he began to play for Bengal in different age group championship.
