By Our Special Correspondent
On receipt of complaints about alleged shortcomings in the preparation of electoral rolls, the Commission had deputed a team of officers to the State, between April 23 and 25. After studying its report, the Commission called the Chhattisgarh Chief Secretary today. The Commission decided to undertake a further special revision of electoral rolls of a summary nature in the State with reference to January 1, 2003 as the qualifying date, in order to remove the shortcomings and improve the quality of the rolls prepared in the State, a Commission press note said here. For the special revision, the electoral rolls published on January 6 this year will be republished as draft rolls and claims and objections would be invited, as per a fresh schedule, it said. Claims and objections could be filed between May 14 and June 4. Disposal of claims and objections, preparation and printing of supplements of additions, deletions and corrections, would be done by June 30 and the final publication of the rolls would be on July 9.
