Frontline IT stocks such as Infosys and Satyam Computer attracted good buying enquiries from foreign institutional investors. Secondline IT counters were particularly in keen demand on speculative buying on the back of favourable advices from Nasdaq, where the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index ended in the positive territory yesterday. Select old economy counters such as BHEL, HDFC, Glaxo, Hindalco, L&T, MTNL and SBI also registered marked gains.
The BSE-30 share index opened lower at 2949.04 against Wednesday's close of 2959.79 and moved in a narrow range of 2968.96 and 2939.16 before concluding at 2966.63. PTI
