Rupes Roy played the key role for India as he won both his singles and doubles matches. Rupesh beat Xiao-Peng Lai 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) in the first singles and later partnered Sumit Prakash Gupta to beat Xiao-Peng Lai and Martin Sayer 6-3, 6-4 in the decisive doubles. Sanam K. Singh, playing the No.1 position for India, went down 0-6, 6-3, 2-6 to Martin Sayer. In the semifinals, India will meet the third-seeded Korea which beat the fourth-seeded Thailand 3-0. In the other quarterfinals, the top-seeded Indonesia beat the eighth-seeded Uzbekistan 2-1 and the fifth-seeded Chinese Taipei defeated the sixth-seeded Sri Lanka 3-0. The top four teams in the Asia-Oceania will make it to the World Group competition to be held later in the season.
