Official sources said one of them was a 65-year old Czech national, another was a Malaysian, and the third an Indian who had arrived from Bangkok. The Czech national was admitted after he complained of fever on arrival from Tibet, while the Malaysian complained of fever and cough and the Indian national had throat pain and a history of fever. Sources said that on the face of it, none of the three appeared to fit the WHO's case definition for SARS as none of them came from a SARS-affected country. But, they were being isolated and treated as a measure of caution. Meanwhile, the Union Health Ministry today emphasised in a press release that henceforth clinical samples would be examined only from those cases which conformed to the WHO case definition, under which a person should meet the following three conditions: should have fever over 100.4 degree Fahrenheit; should have respiratory problems, and should have either been to a SARS-affected country or in contact with a SARS-affected person.
