Opening up of Pak. airspace to benefit AI

By Mahesh Vijapurkar

MUMBAI May 2. Restoration of air-links between India and Pakistan would open up the now-closed airspace to Air India leading to substantial savings on most West-bound flights operated by the national carrier.

According to the Air-India spokesperson, Jitendra Bhargava, the flights were taking a circuitous route flying southwards from Delhi and then towards Dubai and then westwards to its destinations.

In fact, those who visit Pakistan have to go to Dubai and then head backwards towards their destination in the neighbouring country.

But now due to the resumption of air-links, the airline can save fuel and time.
