Villianoor shrine car festival tomorrow

Pondicherry May 2 . The annual car festival of the shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes at Villianoor near here will be held on May 4 marking the grand finale of the nine-day-long programme at the shrine.

Briefing newspersons on the highlights of the festival, P. Arulnathan said the shrine was 125 year old. Every day thousands of people from different parts of Pondicherry and neighbouring pockets of Tamil Nadu visited the shrine. On the day of the car festival, devotees would throng the shrine and seek the blessings of the presiding deity. The Archbishop of Kumbakonam, Peter Remigius, set the programme in motion by hoisting the flag on April 26.
