President appoints six new Governors

NEW DELHI MAY 2. The President today appointed Governors to six States — Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.

S. K. Sinha replaces G. C. Saxena in Jammu and Kashmir, Om Prakash Verma has been appointed in the place of J. F. R. Jacob in Punjab.

V. S. Kokje takes over in Himachal Pradesh, Nirmal Chandra Jain will replace Anshuman Singh in Rajasthan, and BJP leaders, Kailashpati Mishra and Ram Prakash Gupta, have been appointed Governors of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
