On Sunday, he will garland a statue of Basaveshwara at 10 a.m. in High Grounds. From there he will go to the HAL where, at a function organised by the Ministry of Defence, he will select a Sanskrit name for the LCA, sources said. At HAL, he will be accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, and the Defence Minister, George Fernandes. Mr. Advani will inaugurate a research institute near Devanahalli in the afternoon.
Traffic curbs
Vehicular traffic will be partially affected in the City on Saturday and Sunday on account of the visit of the Prime Minster, A.B. Vajpayee. According to a press release by the police, traffic would be affected between 9.15 p.m. and 11.15 p.m. on Airport Road, Domlur Road, Trinity Road, Mahatma Gandhi Road, Dickenson Road, Cubbon Road, and Raj Bhavan Road on Saturday when the Prime Minister is expected to arrive. On Sunday, traffic will be affected on Raj Bhavan Road, Cubbon Road, Dickenson Road, Mahatma Gandhi Road, Trinity Road, Domlur Road, and Airport Road between 9.10 a.m. and 1.30 p.m. and 3.05 p.m. and 5.25 p.m. Vehicles will have to take the following diversions in view of the traffic curbs. Those coming from Shivananda Circle, via Basaveshwara Circle, will have to take a diversion at the Trilight junction and go towards the Janata Dal office, Mourya junction, Central Jail Road, Maharani College Circle, K.R. Circle, Gopala Gowda Circle, Police Thimmaiah Cricle, and Balekundri Circle, to reach the CTO Circle. The vehicles coming from Hotel Windsor Manor towards Gopala Gowda Circle, via Basaveshwara Circle, will have to go towards Ali Askar Road junction, Raj Bhavan Road, and Police Thimmaiah Circle, to reach the CTO Circle. From there, they can return to Police Thimmaiah Circle and take a left turn towards Gopala Gowda Circle. Vehicles coming from the CTO Circle to K.G. Road, via Basaveshwara Circle, will have to take a diversion at Police Thimmaiah Circle, Gopala Gowda Circle, K.R. Circle, Maharani Circle, Palace Road, Mysore Bank Circle, and K.G. Road. The vehicles coming from K.R. Circle towards Basaveshwara Circle will not be allowed to take a left turn at Gopala Gowda Circle. They should go to Police Thimmaiah Circle and take Raj Bhavan Road, LRDE Road, Hotel Windsor Manor Road, and K.K. Road. Those coming to Basaveshwara Circle from Ananda Rao Circle will have to go via Shivananda Circle, K.K. Road, and Hotel Windsor Manor. The vehicles coming from Sheshadripuram can also take this route. Police have made arrangements for the palanquin procession organised by the Someshwara Swamy Temple at Ulsoor on Swamy Vivekananda Road and other roads in the area. Vehicles have been prohibited from coming from Trinity Church Circle and Adarsha Circle towards Swamy Vivekananda Road. The vehicles going towards Ulsoor Road will not be allowed to go via Begum Mahal Circle to Swamy Vivekananda Road junction. Vehicles are also prohibited on Cambridge Road from 1st Cross to Ramaiah Cricle. Traffic is prohibited near the Corporation Community Hall also. Vehicles going towards K.R. Puram, Byappanahalli, Indiranagar, and J.B. Nagar will have to take Kensington Road and Murphy Road to join Old Madras Road. The vehicles coming from the opposite direction should also take this route. Vehicles going towards Domlur Layout, Airport Road, and Marthahalli will have to take Airport Road, via ASC Centre and Domlur.
