Letters to the Editor
Sir, Obviously the present thaw in Indo-Pak. relations is inspired defrosting by common friends as evident from the tone and tenor of the friendly noises and calibrated responses seldom heard of in a long time. Peace in the region augurs well for the two countries and its people more so for those having relationships on either side of the artificial divide. Tranquillity in the sub-continent would give a lot of impetus to trade in the region, extending right up to the Central Asian republics. The dialogue and negotiation process would be difficult. Let us hope that the leaders rise above narrow parochial considerations and find courage to accommodate each other's views if needed. There is a possibility of the LoC becoming the international border with some adjustments and concessions here and there.
Raghubir Singh,
