Rewarding failures

Sir, — The article `Rewarding Failures' ( May 6) brings to light the sorry state of our country's development and correctly states the reason — that the sick and the capital scarce units in our industrial sector tend to gain more support, both economical as well as financial, from the Government.

It is correctly mentioned by N. Vittal that probably the time has come for us to review our policies, which were planned with good intention but have led to counterproductive results.

If we had realised this earlier, we would have undoubtedly been a more developed nation. But, "it's better late than never."

Ambika Goel,
New Delhi
