A group of insurgents of the banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) raided the Moharcherr market and adjoining area under Kalyanpur police station of West Tripura district tonight and gunned down 10 persons and injured four others, including a woman, police said. Earlier, the members of the All Tripura Tiger Force, accompanied by 40 tribal collaborators raided Satchhari, a border village in West Tripura district and set fire to 10 houses before opening fire, DIG (Range), A K Shukla said after a visit. As the villagers began fleeing, the extremists, who had entered the village from Bangladesh territory, opened fire and used sharp weapons, killing 17 non-tribals on the spot, Mr. Shukla said. Two others died of the wounds at G B Hospital here. PTI
