New Delhi
By Our Staff Reporter
He dubbed privatisation of electricity in Delhi as the most glaring scandal committed in the past fifty years. He charged that the annual loss in the electricity sector was Rs.800 crores to 1,000 crores when it was with the Delhi Government and within nine months of privatisation this had reached an alarming level of Rs. 1,800 crores. This, he said, was expected to be around Rs. 2,600 crores by the end of this financial year. He alleged that records and ledger of 1,500 bulk customers have disappeared, accounting for dues worth Rs. 700 crores. The BJP would press for a CBI probe into this scandal and launch agitation against the Delhi Government's misrule. Mr. Khurana rebuked the Congress for demanding his resignation in connection with his role in the Bill granting full Statehood to Delhi. The Central leadership, he said, had assured him that the Bill would be introduced in the ensuing session of Parliament and that the coming Assembly elections would be held after ensuring full Statehood to Delhi. He blamed the Congress for not giving Delhi full Statehood in its 45 years of rule.
