In Hubli and its neighbourhood there had been unrelenting violence, discrimination, and humiliation against Christians in the recent past, the council said in a statement. The sustained campaign against Christians by various Sangh Parivar outfits had resulted in society becoming far less tolerant. The council has approached the State minorities commission to protect the life and property of Christians in Karnataka. "We urge the Government of Karnataka to provide security and to uphold the fundamental rights of minorities as enshrined in the Indian Constitution," the statement said.
