Letters to the Editor
Sir, Let us congratulate the Gujarat High Court for having taken a historical decision to do away with the vacation this year. Vacation for the courts is a vestige of the Raj period. Considering the number of cases pending in courts, this step to mitigate the sufferings of all litigants should act as a beacon light for all other courts in the country. The Government must now fill up all vacancies in the courts to match the steps taken by the judiciary. R. J. Gulrajani, Chennai * * * Sir, The decision of the Gujarat High Court to do away with the summer vacation in order to dispose of pending cases is quite welcome. Its example is worthy of emulation by other courts at least till such time the problem of long pending cases is resolved. K. Vaithinathasamy, Kumbakonam, T.N.
